So how does one get Internet access? The Village http://www.nazarethvillage.com/ is set up with great WiFi coverage, but we thought we would also have good access in our apartment... we soon find out that there is no signal close to our flat at all.I start to explore the various cell phone carriers. I believe before we get here that the "Orange IL" company is the largest cell phone company in Israel, but come to discover that Cellcom IL is the largest company here and operates the best Intenet access over the mobile cell system in the world... speeds are 1.2Mbps/2.8Mbps anywhere. (That's about double to quadtruple the speed of DSL in the states) -- but the coverage is anywhere that your cell phone operates. Here is their homepage: cellcom.co.il (if anyone can tell me all it says there, please post a comment with English translation please.)
Well the Internet access coverage and speed is awesome, but to get this service was quite the exploration. First to find the store took about two days. Then I wait in line for about 30 mins only to be told that they will not sell it to me -- I must have an Israel ID number (the equivalent of our SS#)... so two days later I take Rani from the Village http://www.nazarethvillage.com/ to help me... we wait another 2 hours and after many negotiations and several different permutations of what credit card they will and will not take, we finally leave the store with an "AirCard."
I am surprised to find out that the installation is quite straitforward... and 1 week after arrival we have good Internet access in our apartment... almost the equivalent of a business class Internet line wirelessly available in a week's time... not bad really.
More later! ;-)

I'm impressed with your persistance to get high speed internet. However, am just as impressed with all you are doing and seeing there! We are really enjoying reading the blogs from the whole family. What an experience! It's time to hear from you again! (Today is June 25. By the way, when I wrote that date I remembered that this is the day Ernie and I got engaged in 1961! Forty-seven years of growing together... it's been worth all the efforts!)
